Parquet Courts Share Sparkling Single 'Mardi Gras Beads' + Video
NYC post-punks Parquet Courts are moving in diverse directions, with their new jangle-pop tune 'Mardi Gras Beads' presenting a distinctly laid-back face to the group compared to energetic recent singles 'Wide Awake' and 'Almost Had To Start A Fight / In And Out Of Patience'. The accompanying video directed by Brother Willis takes as its impetus the visually incredible New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration - picking up where the band's previous video left off a surprise gift from a mysterious stranger sets co-frontman Austin Brown on a reflective journey. The song recalls the likes of Pavement in it's shaggy dog-like tone, how their upcoming Danger Mouse-produced collection Wide Awake! will sound is anyone's guess. Vibe out to 'Mardi Gras Beads' below...
'Wide Awake!' is out Friday 18th May via Rough Trade Records.
