Premiere: Skinny Hobos Share Warped Video 'Jacked Like The Ripper'

Auckland rockers Skinny Hobos (Alex Elvis and Texas Holdom) have dropped a warped video for their cranking latest tune 'Jacked Like the Ripper', taken from the band's self-titled debut album dropping tomorrow. Directed and shot by Stefan Coetzee and Alani Lewis, the clip is the fourth in an interconnected series of videos titled The Adventures of Elvis and Texas, a story arc depicting the duo in search on the "true meaning of rock 'n' roll." 'Jacked Like the Ripper' depicts the concluding chapter of that four part tale (the earlier episodes can be viewed here), with the Hobos defending the spirit of all things rocking against sinister fun-hating adversary 'The Man'. The tune itself sits cheerfully between the realms of fist-pumping garage riffage and stoner-rock heaviness, recently emerging on local heavy music primer Doomed and Stoned in New Zealand; you can catch the band on their nationwide album release tour kicking off this week. Skinny Hobos lifted the lid on their ideas behind the epic video series, saying...

"It's kind of just something (we've) always wanted to do. It's a fun and different form of artistic expression that we get to experiment with. We never really planned for it to turn into a full story like this, but it made sense to continue the story after we made the video for 'The Merchant of Tirau'.

The next chapter, as with every chapter in the Skinny Hobos saga, will write itself as it happens. You can't really rule anything out for us. We're always looking for something new and fun to try. We have a bunch of new material that we’ve been working on which we've been sneaking into our sets for the last little while. I'm sure that it will see the light of day at some point in the nearish future, but for now we're going to enjoy the hell out of this album tour!"

The self-titled debut album from Skinny Hobos is out Friday 18th May.
