Tha Movement Drops Narrative Video 'Graduated'
Otara-based rapper Tha Movement, aka David Saotupe, has shared a vivid video called ‘Graduated’. Filmed and directed by Anonymouz, who also composed the song’s beat, the clip expertly matches the storytelling prowess of the track’s kicked-back verses, with the artist giving an succinct plot synopsis via his Youtube channel...
“Growing up in urban Aotearoa, for some of our New Zealand born Pacific youngsters, it was common practice for parents to threaten to send their children “back to the islands” if they got themselves into any serious trouble. “Graduated” is the true story of what happened to a young South Auckland Sāmoan boy when the threat became a reality and he was sent to his parents birthplace without a return ticket.”
The tune is lifted from recent collection The Undisciplined Son, which features the likes of Mareko, King Kapisi, Swiss, Dok2 and more. Check out ‘Graduated’ below...
