Marlon Williams Hits The Club With Video 'Party Boy'

Friday 25th May, 2018 9:31AM

Lyttelton songwriter Marlon Williams has thrown a curveball with his self-directed video for 'Party Boy', the latest single from the artist's hugely acclaimed album Make Way For Love. Set in the black box confines of a gothic-techno club night, the clip is less of a scathing critique of dance culture than of gross dudes who cruise in from the street and make everyone uncomfortable - showing a musical community coming together to confront a guy who doesn't respect boundaries. Currently touring throughout New Zealand this month, Williams looks cool and confident on stage behind his laptop - is the next step for the artist an EDM banger or a residency at Berghain? Williams shared his thoughts on the new clip, saying...

“I’ve never directed anything before. I can’t even direct my dirty laundry into a washing machine. So this was an eye opening experience. I present an exploration into the dynamic between the individual and the pack. Antisocial behavior will not be tolerated and ostracization will be the result."

‘Make Way For Love’ is out now via Dead Oceans.
