Interpol Announce New Album 'Marauder' + Share Single 'The Rover'

Friday 8th June, 2018 9:56AM

US post-punk icons Interpol have announced the imminent release of their first album in four years Marauder, and shared lead track from that record 'The Rover'. Marauder will be out in August, it's the long-running trio's sixth studio album and 'The Rover' is as anthemic as one would expect. Frontman Paul Banks talked about his new focus on autobiographic lyrics with the new record...

“'Marauder' is a facet of myself. That’s the guy that fucks up friendships and does crazy shit. He taught me a lot, but it’s representative of a persona that’s best left in song. In a way, this album is like giving him a name and putting him to bed.

This record is where I feel touching on real things that have happened to me are exciting and evocative to write about,” he explains. “I think in the past, I always felt autobiography was too small a thing for me to reference. I feel like now, I’m able to romanticise parts of my own life.”

'Marauder' is out Friday 24th August on Matador Records.
