Listen To Three New Tracks From Cave Circles

Monday 18th June, 2018 12:10PM

The solo electronic project of Wellington multi-instrumentalist Riki Gooch (Orchestra Of Spheres, DJ Oboe, Trinity Roots), Cave Circles released three killer tracks over the weekend and there looks to be lots more on the way. The club-ready tunes 'Waihola Disco 1979', 'Balloons' and 'Mr Whippy' encompass feelings both meditative and energetic, with swirling synths and sample snatches carving out deep grooves over pounding beats. We caught up with the artist who revealed these tracks are the initial results of an ongoing studio project focussed on mindfulness...

"Basically I have not made any of my own music in five months, apart from the new Orchestra Of Spheres album (due out in Nov). Being in the studio has become a part of my mindfulness practise and my goal is to release something everyday until the well dries up.

Treating this as morning meditation of sorts. And I’m trying to have no care about what people think, where the music fits in the genre strata, etc. Stripping any ego from myself and the music. What I am really saying is that I don't give much of a fuck about the result, I just want to make music, get better at it and share it. I care but I don't care, if you know what I mean."
