Kamasi Washington Drops Action-Packed Video 'Street Fighter Mas'
US jazz virtuoso Kamasi Washington has unveiled a cinematic clip for his latest single 'Street Fighter Mas', which the artist has described as a theme to him busting moves in the classic video game. The video written and directed by AG Rojas is as badass as the track, plopping Washington into a streetwise and surreal setting as the fabulously dressed artist scopes out a mysterious building, searching for a worthy foe. That action that goes down may surprise, as Washington faces down a powerful opponent in the field of battle. The stylish clip gets us even more psyched for the artist's second album Heaven and Earth which is out tomorrow. Director AG Rojas shared some words on the visuals...
"I love inhabiting Kamasi’s world, and 'Street Fighter Mas' was an opportunity to take a left turn and explore the surreal qualities of that world. When Kamasi told me the background of the song, how Street Fighter was a safe space for him—it took me back to the supermarket down the street from my childhood home where my brother and I would try and get in as many games before our mother was finished shopping. It was a true labor of love for everyone involved, coming from a desire to interpret the cinematic qualities of the track into something equally unpredictable, familiar, absurd and ultimately triumphant."
