Wellington's Hybrid Rose Drops Spacey Single 'UFO'

Friday 10th August, 2018 3:41PM

Wellington electronic artist Hybrid Rose (aka Rose Muollo-Gray) has shared 'UFO', the latest single from her sophomore album Warhol, which is out in mid-August. The instrumental track is a retro-futuristic voyage into blissed-out DIY synth worship, crackling with feverish dance-floor energy. The artist generously took time out to share a few words with UTR about her new cyber-jam and upcoming musical plans...

"UFO is everything that is Hybrid Rose, deep fuzzy baselines, too many melodies, some video game elements and a whole lotta energy. I knew that when I started writing the parts for this track, I wanted to go completely experimental and see how crazy I could make this song. People like to think I make sad music to reflect on real world issues, but I honestly just want to make people dance and that's what UFO has done to so many of my friends.

Warhol is coming out in two weeks, and I am going to be celebrating the release by eating cake and enjoying it's release with everyone. After that, I plan to start putting together a visual project for the album, and maybe drop a B-Side mixtape before Christmas! I need to get my butt out there and start performing but we'll see how things turn out :)"

'Warhol' is out via Spotify and Bandcamp on Friday 24th August.
