Premiere: Auckland's TOOMS Share Self-Titled Debut EP

Monday 27th August, 2018 10:07AM

Auckland 'winecore' punk duo TOOMS have been pummelling local punters' eardrums on the regular since joining forces late last year. Showcasing the mighty talents of Dorian Noval (Axes To Grind, Emily Edrosa) and Nich Cunningham (Rope, Lost Rockets), TOOMS burrow under your skin then punch their way out again with steamrolling bass / drums grooves, needlingly catchy riffage, and the duo's double-barrelled vocal assault. We're stoked to premiere the powerful two piece's self-titled debut collection here, ahead of their appearance at Karangahape Road's mega-festival The Others Way this Friday. TOOMS dished the dirt on how they got the ball rolling and the origins of their new EP, read their words and dive in below...

"After what seemed like months of discussing the possibility, we finally started jamming late last year. Since neither of us hated it, we kept doing it. Before we were ready, we agreed to play a show. That compelled us to get our shit together. We recorded this EP before that gig in order to figure out if our material was any good. Once we started playing live, other people told us that it was: It almost seemed like the weren't lying. And if there is one thing that's more important than your own opinion, it's likes."

TOOMS are performing at Auckland's Audio Foundation as part of The Others Way Festival this Friday 31st August (they're playing at 10.15pm sharp). For tickets and more info head along here.

You can grip a limited edition cassette copy of the EP via TOOMS' Bandcamp page here.
