Auckland's monumental The Others Way festival hit us like a freight train on Friday, with more than fifty local and international acts performing over fourteen venues in the Karangahape Rd district, for what was arguably Aotearoa's independent music event of the year. The whole town was buzzing as punters zoomed from zone to zone, with so many excellent artists to see it was a fool's errand to try and catch them all, attendees were essentially put in the role of curating their own tailor-made lineup with the diverse musical smorgasbord on offer.

Crucial acts to catch on the absolutely rammed bill included the reunion of seminal Flying Nun groups Bailterspace, Headless Chickens and Superette, the return of 70s funk / disco group Collision, performances from visiting Chapter Music artists Laura Jean and The Goon Sax plus so much more. Up for it punters who survived having their ears pummelled by Bailterspace's crushing set danced the night away at Melbourne's DJ JNETT's afterparty at Neck Of The Woods. Check out a fabulous collection of images from the evening by our roving team of photographers Ngamihi Pawa, Richard Myburgh, and Daryl Fincham...
