Indi Shares Dreamlike Single 'Demeter' + Video

Thursday 13th September, 2018 1:19PM

Berlin-based expat songsmith Indi (aka Indira Force of Doprah) has dropped her latest single ‘Demeter’, accompanied by a meticulously crafted video directed by Martin Sagadin. Lifted from her forthcoming debut solo album Precipice, the song is an amalgamation of classical instrumentation, trip hop electronic sensibilities and Indi’s powerful and ethereal vocal tones. The fantastical clip was created in Christchurch and mirrors the airy, surreal feeling for the song. Indi shared some insight into the visual concoction...

"The aesthetic was very much informed by 80s fantasy films like the Dark Crystal and Neverending Story. Many elements of Julia's set design were built to have a slightly phony look, like cardboard cut outs or blurry dreamlike objects rather than hyper-realistic. The set was built in Ilam art school using mostly painted bedsheets and cardboard, as well as organic matter found on the grounds. We used someone's smashed up artwork that we found for a lot of the textural things.

My favourite thing is the fluffy spores that fall through the air. They are real spores collected around Christchurch. They add so much movement and magic to the footage, whist also referencing the central themes of fertility and youth.”

'Precipice' is out Friday 12th October via Flying Nun Records.
