HIGH H00PS Shares Debut Album 'Seasons On Planet Earth'

Friday 21st September, 2018 1:44PM

Auckland electronic artist HIGH H00PS (aka Jordan Arts of Leisure) has dropped his long-awaited debut album Seasons On Planet Earth, gathering eleven tracks of cosmopolitan uptown funk into one tidy package. The producer has contributed his considerable skills to such high-flyers as Avantdale Bowling Club, SWIDT and High Beams - his groove-driven record draws on club influences including house and electro-boogie, serving as a one-stop showcase of the artist's diverse solo talents, and could very well be the vibe you're looking for this summer. HIGH H00PS shared a statement reflecting on the ideas explored on his new album...

“I see the album as a journal entry of songs I’ve made over the last couple of seasons on planet Earth. They range from a time where romance and heartbreak, haunted blue days and red hot nights were phasing like season finales and premieres. The music is always centred around groove and melody, drawing influence from a nostalgic haze of 70s funk, 80s disco, 90s R&B and 2000s dance music romanced into a sound for the future.

Seasons On Planet Earth is a fitting title for a collection of songs that I've kept tight in my own personal comfort zone over the last couple of years. Every song is a direct extension of who I am and the songs are the destination of where I've found creative peace. It's a cathartic feeling that washes over me, like a shoulder rub from the universe."

'Seasons on Planet Earth' out via now A Label Called Success. You can catch HIGH H00PS celebrating the release of his debut album tonight at Auckland's Williams Eatery.
