Madeline Kenney Shares Title Track To New Album 'Perfect Shapes'

Tuesday 2nd October, 2018 11:00AM

Oakland singer-songwriter Madeline Kenney has unveiled the title track to her forthcoming sophomore album Perfect Shapes, which has already given us the angular dance-pop student radio hit 'Cut Me Off'. The free-floating new single sees Kenney in a meditative mental space, musing on utopian geometries and summer sensations above hypnotic arpeggiating synth bleeps and gently dripping dazed grooves. Kenney expanded on the themes of her song in a statement...

"The phrase ‘Perfect Shapes’ floated into my head one evening when I was sitting outside my Oakland apartment and staring at a fence. I wasn’t sure what it meant but I knew it would be my next record. I walked back inside and wrote this song, and only now do I really see what I was talking about; nostalgia and pain, leaving and staying, seeing and appreciating what is beautiful and what hurts."

'Perfect Shapes' is out Friday 5th October via Carpark Records.
