Premiere: Dawn Diver Share Live Video 'Shades Of Innocence'

Wednesday 17th October, 2018 11:57AM

Wellington's Dawn Diver have unveiled a gorgeously filmed live video for their soulful song 'Shades of Innocence', shot as part of the roving Old Hall Gigs event series. Fronted by golden-voiced songwriter Ben Lemi (Trinity Roots, Congress Of Animals), Dawn Diver unveiled in March their superb three song psychedelic Demos EP, where 'Shades of Innocence' originally appeared. The new clip by film maker Lee Gingold documents the band in all their splendour playing to a packed house at the Cook Islands Society Hall. Lemi is currently hard at work gearing up for his forthcoming nationwide tour with windy city supergroup Congress Of Animals, which counts amongst its members Brett Mackenzie (Flight Of The Conchords), Age Pryor, Justin Firefly and Nigel Collins, and he'll be touring with TrinityRoots in November performing songs from their landmark 2002 album True. Dawn Diver promise an EP is on the way and there'll be live shows on the cards for the new year, read Lemi's words on the creation of the video and experience it below...

"When the Old Hall Gigs crew hit me up about doing a show at the Cook Islands Society Hall I jumped at the invitation. I’ve always appreciated the way that Sarah and Eva curate their events and had a feeling that the setting would be great for Dawn Diver’s third show. I didn’t initially intend to have the gig filmed, but two fifths of the band were about to head overseas for a while, so I thought it would be cool to come away with some kind of documentation from the night. As a venue the aesthetic at the hall is fairly “dry” so my talented friend and film maker Lee Gingold did well to tap in to the charm and simplicity of the space. It’s nice to get an idea of the energy in the room and the shifting momentum of the music."
