Auckland dream-pop crew She's So Rad, the project of Anji Sami and Jeremy Toy (aka Leonard Charles), have shared a gorgeous video for their woozy recent single 'You And I', the first tune unveiled from a forthcoming new EP. Directed by Dylan Pharazyn, who has created works with Die! Die! Die! and Dimmer, and shot by cinematographer Adam Luxton, the clip is a touching reflection on young romance starring young actors JFK and Zoe, complementing She's So Rad's evocative widescreen sonics to a tee. Toy waxed lyrical about the audio-visual collaboration, stating "Anji and I love working with Dylan Pharazyn. He has a very musical approach to his visual art, he really understands where we are headed with our music and yet manages to take our music somewhere else entirely." Pharazyn generously took time out to expand on the ideas surrounding the video, read his words and experience 'You And I' below...

"I wanted to shoot a naturalistic love story so I began to explore this idea in which a young woman walks and remembers fragments of a beautiful relationship. The emotion of the video owes a lot to the casting of Zoe and JFK… they’re a real-life couple, very much in love and their truthful chemistry comes across on screen.

To work with the structure and feeling of the song I didn’t want to use a straight documentary realism… in the editing of the memory moments we built a sequence that felt human, and hopefully quite touching… these two young people in love… but also a feeling that’s layered and complex - like a relationship. For me, the memories began to build a tension, sometimes feeling like recollections or other times more like imagined events - playing with this feeling of being lost with someone, not in a negative way but that kind of dreamy confusion you sometimes experience when in love.

It’s my second time working with the band. Jeremy and Anji are friends and they’re a dream to work with. Total sweethearts. I loved the song… I sent them my idea and we talked about it on the phone and then it was like great let’s do that then."
