Fanau Spa Share Self-Titled Debut Mixtape

Tuesday 6th November, 2018 9:23AM

Nine piece "family rap ensemble" Fanau Spa have dropped their hugely anticipated self-titled debut collection, delivering on the stellar promise of earlier singles 'River', 'Glitch' and 'Leather and Wood'. Laid down at Fanau Spa Studios in Auckland's Karangahape road, the mixtape showcases the combined talents of Queen Kapussi, Joe Kori, Big Fat Raro, Coco Solid, Xamiishi, Manu, Brown Boy Magik, TH1R§T3EN and Yumgod in various creative combinations and permutations, many of whom also contributed to Coco Solid's killer mixtape Cokes. Crossed fingers we'll see another live Fanau Spa event soon following recent shows featuring the collective in Auckland and Melbourne, in the meantime Brown Boy Magik is lending his skills to curating this Friday's 1999 Auckland party featuring sets by visiting superstars Charli XCX, Banoffee and Ceci G at Auckland's Raynham Park. Coco Solid shared some words via Facebook on Fanau Spa's debut mixtape...

"I am so thankful to have been part of this 9-member nuclear experience. It's available on all platforms and amid the chaos and globe scattered status, I'm proud of us all. We each possess a different lense, voltage and ancestral life that the world rn needs to hear from - and we know this record serves a purpose bigger than what we could do as individuals. Ngā mihi mega ki a mātou katoa".

'Fanau Spa' is out now via Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud.
