California punk legends Dead Kennedys hit Aotearoa for shows in Auckland and Christchurch over the weekend, with originals members lead guitarist East Bay Ray and bassist Klaus Fluoride present and accounted for, playing alongside drummer D.H. Peligrio and new vocalist Skip McSkipster. While the absence of iconic original singer Jello Biafra caused grumbling amongst dedicated local fans, McSkipster belted out anthem after singalong anthem with unabashed gusto. The gang were supported in Auckland on Saturday by Thames troublemakers The Dicks and Auckland's Nuggiez, who are no strangers to a catchy guitar-punk anthem or two themselves.
