Premiere: Pickle Darling Shares Singles 'Bicycle Weather' + 'Rinse Spin Cycle / Nicolas Cage'

Tuesday 20th November, 2018 11:09AM

Bedroom pop artist Pickle Darling aka Lukas Mayo has been quietly making waves from his Christchurch headquarters, with his spring onion pancakes EP sitting at the top of the New Zealand Bandcamp best-selling charts for a good chunk of 2018, and appearing on the RDU stage at the most recent Nostalgia Festival. Pickle Darling has now announced his first ever full length album Bigness will be out January the 4th (his birthday) on vinyl, cassette and digitally via Slovakian independent label Z Tapes, and unveiled a pair of breezy yet hook-packed tunes - 'Bicycle Weather' and 'Rinse Spin Cycle / Nicolas Cage' - to tantalise your tastebuds for the whole shebang. The artist hinted tour plans are on the cards for the near future and kindly lifted the lid on the themes behind Bigness...

"Most of the songs deal with the person I am vs the person I want to be and what happens when they collide. That’s why I called it Bigness. I guess I have a tendency to think small and insular but with these songs I wanted to write more generously and empathetically. The record is full of fictional stories and characters but they're kind of exaggerated aspects of myself (for better or worse). It comes out on January the 4th (my birthday), with vinyl + cassette available to pre-order now on my Bandcamp :)"

'Bigness' is available for preorder now on vinyl, cassette and digitally via Z Tapes here.
