Joanne Robertson + Kool Music New Zealand Shows Announced

Auckland's facilitators of mind-expanding sonics Audio Foundation have announced a special two date tour from UK experimental folk musician and visual artist Joanne Robertson and frequent collaborator Kool Music, performing at the organisation's subterranean super city venue and Wellington's Pyramid Club in December. Robertson is known to lovers of adventurous sounds worldwide via her work with genre-defier Dean Blunt (Hype Williams) on his albums The Redeemer, Black Metal, Stone Island, Skin Fade and 2017's Wahalla. Her own solo albums The Lighter, Black Moon Days and Wildflower (co-written by Kool Music) have garnered considerable acclaim in their own right, scope out the details here...

Audio Foundation is pleased to announce two very special New Zealand shows for multi-talented UK artist and frequent Dean Blunt collaborator, Joanne Robertson. She will be supported by elusive instrumentalist and visual artist Kool Music (UK).

Joanne Robertson has become known for the lyrical drifting beauty of her music. She has released three solo albums, The Lighter (Textile), Black Moon Days (Feeding Tube) and Wildflower (co-written by Kool Music), which have been hailed as brilliant extensions of the avant-garde wing of the femme-folk tradition. But she is also a form-disrupter of the highest order, as she demonstrated early on with the Blood 'n Feather collective, amongst other noise brigands.

Her collaborations and recordings with Dean Blunt are numerous, including ‘The Redeemer’, ‘Black Metal’, ‘Stone Island’, ‘Skin Fade’ and most recently ‘Wahalla’. Joanne will be presenting new compositions and new arrangements of older works, and will be joined by co-conspirator Kool Music (UK). About all you can expect, really, is the unexpected.
