Premiere: Milk Shares Intoxicating Single 'BENZO'

Wednesday 28th November, 2018 9:37AM

Auckland multi-instrumentalist Reuben Winter is a creative whirlwind, recording club-rattling dance tracks under the solo moniker Totems, hitting the skins for outsider punk crew P.H.F. and recording guitar-oriented material as frontperson for his heavy psych / punk project milk. We're stoked to premiere milk's intoxicating new single 'BENZO' (named after anti-anxiety medication), a dreamlike dirge showcasing Winter's emotive vocals and barbed guitar melodies soaring above a swirling ocean of sound. 'BENZO' is the latest track unveiled from milk's keenly anticipated self-titled new album (you can scope out the tracklist and art below) releasing via Prison Tapes, following 'Signal Me in the Mirror' featured on the latest edition of the ear-to-the-ground Mimicry Mixtape local music compilations. milk recently manifested live in their hometown for a packed out mind-melting set at Whammy Bar, Winter kindly shared a few words about the album and his band's upcoming plans...

"I did all the recording myself over the last two years (there's a bunch of stuff that didn't really fit on this that will be coming out a few months after the self titled) but this is the first milk release where I've had more than one other person involved. For instance on BENZO Emma Hall-Phillips from Bad Friend / Aw B does the backing vocals, as well as a couple of others on the album. We've been playing this song for a while, its basically about being alone and overthinking life decisions. No current plans for shows, but the album comes out on the 28th of Jan so currently trying to organise some shows in the North Island around that time."

milk's self-titled album is out Monday 28th January via Prison Tapes.
