Supersuckers Returning To New Zealand In February

Monday 24th December, 2018 1:16PM

Seattle-based cowpunk veterans Supersuckers are returning to Aotearoa for a hootin' and hollerin' three date North Island tour this February. Celebrating their 30th anniversary since kicking off all the way back in 1988, the cowboy hat wearing party-starters have brought the good times via their hellraising live shows and an ever-expanding back catalogue encompassing eleven studio albums so far, including 1999's The Evil Powers of Rock 'n' Roll, which they'll be playing in its entirety at all three shows. The live favourites were last here in mid-2017 for a whirlwind New Zealand tour, the legendary Lemmy of Motorhead once said of the group “If you don’t like the Supersuckers, you don’t like Rock ‘n’ Roll,” and we dare you to disagree. Here's the details...

Press release:

Very pleased to announce we have the self proclaimed best Rock n Roll band in the world The SuperSuckers touring NZ in Feb . Lemmy of Motorhead once said “If you don’t like the Supersuckers, you don’t like Rock ‘n’ Roll”, which is some statement to say about a band by someone so legendary.

And it would seem we’re in luck…

The Supersuckers are celebrating three decades of liquor, women, drugs and killing and their 30th Anniversary as “The Greatest Rock-n-Roll Band in the World™” with a series of special 30th Anniversary BIG SHOWS to commemorate this monumental footnote in music history!

A party band at heart, donning cowboy hats and kicking out a gleefully trashy brand of throttling, rockabilly-flavored garage punk. Supersuckers lyrics are raucous, over-the-top celebration of all the attendant evils of rock & roll – sex, booze, drugs, Satan, and whatever other vices the band could think of, all glorified with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Save for an abrupt and temporary detour into hardcore honky tonk, their approach stayed relatively consistent through the ’90s, as did their quality control. Playing Whammy Fri 8th Feb . Yot Club Raglan Sat 9th Valhalla Sunday Feb10 .Tickets on sale Monday for that last minute dip into Santa s sacks...
