Premiere: Body Beat Ritual Shares Video 'Body Politics'

Thursday 10th January, 2019 9:54AM

North Island dance producer Body Beat Ritual's three track Mortal Sin EP entranced listeners last year with its pulse-pounding journey through the post-industrial worlds of electronic body music, new beat and thundering techno. The enigmatic artist has now unveiled a self-created video for that collection's standout track 'Body Politics' which we're excited to premiere here, a collage of vintage VHS footage of dancers busting loose in sweaty club environments, channeling the liberating spirit of underground dance culture in one intoxicating package.

The video drops ahead of a fresh collection of cuts titled Instinct Primitive / Crash Report, out this February on limited edition 12" vinyl from Berlin (ex-Auckland) independent imprint Haven. They've released this week the EP's lead track 'Crash Report' which you can listen to below, the four track EP will also feature remixes by producers VTSS (Warsaw) and Blush Response (Berlin). Body Beat Ritual shared some of his ideas around his project and latest video work...

"So Body Politics is a paean to the body language of the dance floor. Clubs are special places because they are portals from the world outside to a liberated space where all people can be united by a beat. I used old footage because by looking back in time even though the fashions change you can see how much of a good time they are having. The ritual of dancing is as old as humanity and never goes out of style."

'Instinct Primitive / Crash Report' is out Friday 8th February on limited edition 12" vinyl via Haven.

The single version of 'Body Politics' is available for purchase HERE.
