Beat Rhythm Fashion Return For National Tour + Album
Wellington post-punks Beat Rhythm Fashion released only three singles in the early 80s before disbanding for Australia, but those songs are still drawing enraptured listeners into their singularly haunting sonic universe. Centred around brothers Dan and Nino Birch, the pioneering group has recently resurfaced, releasing a trickle of fresh recordings onto Bandcamp, and have now announced a special four date tour of Aotearoa this March. The band's 1981 single 'Turn Of The Century' is deservedly regarded as an unheralded post-punk classic, and attracted significant worldwide attention when it appeared on YouTube early this decade. Currently comprised of Nino Birch, Caroline Easther and Rob Mayes, Beat Rhythm Fashion are picking up where they left off 35 years ago, with their first ever full length album Tenterhook releasing this February via Failsafe Records. Press release:
Legendary Wellington Proto Shoegazer Dreampop pioneers Beat Rhythm Fashion return from a 35 year hiatus to pick up exactly where they left off with their ground breaking atmospheric alternative rock pieces like 'Turn of the Century' (https://youtu.be/332o26-w6gs) and 'Beings Rest Finally') https://youtu.be/CLI3VKfGTyM) with a new album of material. Nino Birch(guitar & vocals) and Caroline Easther (ex Chills drums & vocals) team up with Rob Mayes (ex Throw, dolphin, Kimo - bass) to deliver a new album, and back it up with a nationwide tour.
There are a lot of things you'd be reasonably expected not to hold your breath for in 2019, but you can cross a BRF tour and album off that list and catch them live and on record.
