Stephen Malkmus Of Pavement Unveils Electronic Single 'Viktor Borgia'

Wednesday 23rd January, 2019 12:00PM

Stephen Malkmus, frontman of iconic US indie-rock tour-de-force Pavement, has unveiled his debut foray into the world of electronic music ‘Viktor Borgia’. The single is lifted from the artist’s forthcoming opus Groove Denied, Malkmus' first ever collection of computer music drawing inspiration from such post-human UK pop icons as Gary Numan and The Human League. The retrofuturistic tune features the artist's instantly recognisable vocal tones and head-spinning lyrics atop a bed of 80s new wave-esque drum machine and synthesizers, and comes accompanied with a stylised clip directed by Jan Lankisch featuring the singer in an empty night club before teleporting to cyberspace. Groove Denied will be Malkmus' first offical solo album since all the way back in 2001, check out ‘Viktor Borgia’ below...

'Groove Denied' is out Friday 15th March via Matador Records.
