After treating us to four singles of shimmering and emotive sonic storytelling, Australian alt-country songwriter Julia Jacklin has lifted the lid on her sterling second album Crushing. The ten track opus is filled with vivid aural narratives, delivered by Jacklin’s immaculate vocal tones and accented by the stellar production of Burke Reid (who has worked with Courtney Barnett and Liam Finn). Highlights include the catchy hooks and crisp snare drum accents of ‘You Were Right’ and the heartbreaking refrains and round basslines of ‘Don’t Know How To Keep Loving You'.
