Scottish alt-rock legends The Jesus and Mary Chain returned to Auckland's The Powerstation last night for the first of two New Zealand headline shows, with a performance at Wellington's The Opera House lined up for tonight. Formed all the way back in 1983, the feedback-loving group fronted by brothers William and Jim Reid had a new album in tow, 2016's Damage and Joy (the long-awaited follow-up to 1998's Munki), and were here to treat fans to songs from across the hugely influential band's moody and romantic back catalogue. The JAMC were supported for their first local event in three years by Auckland's own "goth glam grunge psych" sensations Shoddy, who unveiled their debut collection With Nails And Glue late last year.
