World-conquering California funk-rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers are back in Aotearoa this weekend for two evenings of hyperenergetic anthems and epic ballads at Auckland's Spark Arena, here as part of their first tour in six years celebrating the release of the latest collection The Getaway. Sporting a mean moustache and still pumped as hell, frontman Anthony Kiedis led the gang of Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer through singalong faves from throughout the band's hit-packed back catalogue, although punters wanting to hear 'Under The Bridge' were out of luck last night. No longer snotty young punks (Kiedis is turning 57 this year), RHCPs still know how to get their multigenerational fanbase amped and more – they're hitting the stage at Spark Arena tonight for a second round, which reportedly may feature a different setlist as they've been mixing it up for each show of the tour.
