Listen To Haast's Blissful Collection 'Hāwea'

Thursday 21st March, 2019 2:01PM

We don't know much about Wellington electronic producer Haast, but we do know the enigmatic artist has snuck a very calming and meditative collection onto their Bandcamp page titled Hāwea, named after a conservation park and lake in Otago. Sitting somewhere between experimental and new age realms, the album blends tranquil ambient electronics and field recordings from the artist's hiking adventures in the South Island, with sounds of birdsong and scuffed pathways enmeshed with arpeggiated synths, dreamy drones and occasional melodic vocal passages. Haast's statement on their Bandcamp page says the collection was created "using field recordings made on and around the various peaks of Central Otago Lakes District in New Zealand. I was inspired by some electronic records that use field recordings as a base so decided to make my own."
