Louis Baker Shares Uplifting Single 'The People' + Video
Wellington songsmith Louis Baker has unveiled a heartfelt new song titled 'The People', in advance of support shows for US soul / R&B legend Allen Stone's tour of Australasia this month. Riding a supple, grooving baseline, Baker's latest tune sees the artist drawing inspiration from such socially conscious figures as Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield to deliver his message of hope and inclusion, warmly produced by Brad Ellis of upcoming visitors The Nextmen. The uplifting single is accompanied by a visual love letter to Baker's Wellington hometown directed by Shae Sterling. Baker revealed his motivations for the clip...
“I wanted this video to be honest and upfront. I wanted it to reflect my norm, where I grew up, the diversity amongst our small but international city, the warmth, the art, the people. My dad makes an appearance, he worked for 43 years as a fireman, my best mates, many of my friends, and people I have never met are in this video. There are nods to musical minds that have paved the way before us.”
Louis Baker supports Allen Stone at Auckland's Bruce Mason centre on Wednesday 24th April, and at Wellington's Meow on Thursday 25th April.
