Mermaidens Share Doomy Single ‘Cut It Open’
Wellington's Mermaidens have unveiled ‘Cut It Open’, the B-side to current student radio favourite ‘You Maintain The Stain’, just in time for the first show of their 7” vinyl release tour tonight in Christchurch. The new track doesn’t disappoint, with steady, doomy bass and drums from Abe Hollingsworth and Lily West marching on under Gussie Larkin’s (Earth Tongue) lead vocals. Larkin demands you to “cut it open, cut me out” through a tremolo that gradually settles, gaining assertiveness into the verse.
