Jay Clarkson And The Containers Share Haunting Single 'Wakey Wakey World'

Wednesday 15th May, 2019 11:25AM

Longtime singer-songwriter and Flying Nun alumni Jay Clarkson (The Expendables, Breathing Cage) has shared a gorgeous track with her current band The Containers, and announced an EP is on the horizon. ‘Wakey Wakey World’ would have you thinking it’s happy-go-lucky, twee-folk, but the lyrics and climactic chorus put a dark twist on the track, telling the world it’s time to wake up before it’s too late. The Containers are Mike Dooley (Toy Love, Snapper, The Snares), Alan Haig (The Chills, Snapper, The Heavy 8s) and John White (Mestar, The Blueness). With recording still underway, the band are squeezing in a show in Oamaru at Grainstore Gallery on Sunday 26th May. Clarkson says the EP in the works is compiled of songs that are “a little bit spooky, and others that are cruisy - but with an edge”. Whether you're feeling spooky or cruisy, soundtrack your day with 'Wakey Wakey World'...
