Sleater-Kinney Announce New Album + Share Single 'The Future Is Here'
Washington riot grrrl trailblazers Sleater-Kinney made waves with their recent single ‘Hurry On Home’, delivering a dynamite love / hate blend of glammed-up pop-punk and passionate lyricism. The team of Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss have announced a new album produced by St. Vincent and titled The Center Won't Hold is on the way for this August, and they've ramped up anticipation even further by unveiling the record's second single 'The Future Is Here'. Accompanied by a stylised lyric clip directed by JJ Guest, 'The Future Is Here' delivers an emotive anthem for our digital device dominated, future-shocked contemporary reality.
Carrie Brownstein opened up about Sleater-Kinney's thematic approach for the new record, stating “We’re always mixing the personal and the political but on this record, despite obviously thinking so much about politics, we were really thinking about the person -- ourselves or versions of ourselves or iterations of depression or loneliness -- in the middle of the chaos.”
'The Center Won't Hold' is out Friday 16th August via Milk! Records / Rhythmethod.
