Lake South Announces Album Release Tour + Shares Video 'South Coast'
Wellington songwriter and electronic producer Lake South (of Urbantramper) has shared a video for ‘South Coast’, the first glimpse of his second full length album, the highly conceptual Wellington | Te Upoko O Te Ika.
The clip was created by long time collaborators Poor Sailors and draws inspiration from a particular spot in Aotearoa, as does each track on the forthcoming album. Wellington | Te Upoko O Te Ika is set for an August release, which will be punctuated with a six date national tour and will take the physical form of 11 postcards, which each represent “a song / place / sentiment”. The release comes with a special web app, that displays an audio player when the device is within 500 meters of a location that inspired one of the collection’s tracks, allowing you to listen to that track. Take a trip to the ‘South Coast’ while you digest that visionary morsel and check out the tour dates below to witness Lake South’s artistry, joined by Eddie Crawshaw (Sheep, Dog & Wolf, Bonaparte) on live drums…

Lake South performs electricUTOPIA music with midi triggers, guitar, and voice – along with live drums from Eddie Crawshaw (Sheep, Dog & Wolf, Bonaparte). In 2017, Lake South released his first album 'If You're Born On An Island The Ocean Heals You' to critical acclaim.
'Wellington | Te Upoko O Te Ika' is an album that explores one person's interpretation of place. A web app has been created to allow people to listen to the songs in the places they sing about. You can experience Lake South's 'Wellington' now, here: https://lake-south.com/wellington
Instead of physical albums, a set of 11 postcards will be available at live shows. Each postcard represents a song / place / sentiment.
Lake has been long-listed for the Silver Scrolls twice and was a Critics' Choice finalist in the 2014 NZ Vodafone Music Awards.
