Press release:

Kia ora, July is Refuge Appeal Month, and we’re throwing a gig to raise money for the Eastern Refuge Society, which provides refuge, support services, programmes and interventions for women, children and perpetrators of violence across Counties Manukau.

Our artists & volunteers are giving their mahi to a night of solidarity and support, where all money raised goes directly to the development of much needed community services for the people of Papakura, an area long understood to be desperately under resourced - and we'd like your help getting the word out.

The Eastern Refuge Society is a member of the National Collective of Independent Women’s Refuges, working in East and South Auckland cultivating violence-free families and communities. Eastern Refuge Society works with women and children face-to-face, providing immediate help with a crisis line, emergency housing, and safe housing; and ongoing support with safety and empowerment programmes, advocacy and counselling, and community social work. Their tane work alongside perpetrators to navigate spaces for them to engage with services that will support them to live violence free.
