Boss Soul - A Tribute To Bruce Springsteen & Food Bank Fundraiser Announced

A bevy of hardworking Canterbury artists are celebrating the soul enriching and socially conscious spirit of The Boss this winter with Boss Soul, a joint tribute to Bruce Springsteen and food bank fundraiser happening at Christchurch's Blue Smoke. The mid-July event features members of The Eastern, The Black Velvet Band, Soulmates and The Haunters performing a selection of Springsteen's blue collar anthems for a great cause. Attendees are encouraged to bring along a non-perishable item to donate to Christchurch City food banks, check out the details here...

Featuring members of The Eastern, The Black Velvet Band, Soulmates, The Haunters and a zillion more, these musicians have devoted all their off time to harness the power, hour after cold dark hour in order to warm you ass up and ensure that the ChCh food bank is well stocked this July!

Christchurch winters are designed to bite you where it hurts, it’s their intrinsic nature, their essential reason for existence. It’s your job to face them down, heat pumps a ‘blazing, fires a ’roaring, layers a ’wrapping and if you dig music then with your ass a ’shakin’. We gotta keep it warm out there!

The music of Bruce Springsteen seems custom built for the later, especially when in true Boss fashion him and his E-Street alumni put it four to the floor and indulge the soul influences so prevalent in theirs and the greater sound of the Jersey Shore.

The name of the game is to hustle you for some canned food to donate to the thinning shelves of CHCH food banks who are doing it more than tough this winter. It’s a warmth for warmth kinda deal. Something in keeping with the spirit of the boss, this bunch of shivering singers and players reckon; freeing your feet for the bar floor but also your generosity for the greater good.
