The Chats Return With New Single 'Identity Theft' + Announce NZ Shows

C.C. / Friday 26th July, 2019 2:08PM

Queensland "shed-rock" ratbags The Chats are back with a ripper of a new tune titled 'Identity Theft'. Channeling the time-honoured spirit of punk storytelling that goes back at least as far as early 80s LA iconoclasts Angry Samoans, the instantly catchy single spins a sorry tale about a bit of not-so-innocent online fun gone wrong. If you like what you hear you better prep your ears to be ram-raided by a whole lot more, as the cheeky trio of Eamon Sandwith, Josh Price and Matt Boggis are heading back our way to tear Aotearoa a new one this October. Have a squiz at the Matt Weston-directed video for 'Identity Theft' below...

The Chats
Thursday 10th October - San Fran, Wellington
Friday 11th October - Galatos, Auckland
Saturday 12th October - MCR, Dunedin

Press release:

Today, our favourite Australian shed-rockers The Chats announce their return to New Zealand shores for a three-date tour this October. The punk anthem machines were last here in February for their first-ever NZ visit, selling out both of their Auckland shows and effortlessly filling up venues across the country.

This time, they are celebrating their new single 'Identity Theft' available everywhere today alongside action-packed visuals! 'Identity Theft' is a cautionary tale about hackers stealing your identity and the video follows the boys on yet another hedonistic pursuit of A Bloody Good Time. Watch the video below!
