Listen To 'Slow Decline - MUZAI at 10' Retrospective Collection

C.C. / Tuesday 13th August, 2019 1:12PM

MUZAI Records have unleashed upon the world Slow Decline - MUZAI at 10, a forty seven track deep dive into the Aotearoa imprint's staunchly DIY and frequently ear-bleeding back catalogue. Helmed by Benjii Jackson and now based in London, MUZAI Records' new anthology celebrates the significant milestone of their 10th anniversary. The hefty retrospective collection presents a cross-section of crucial developments from throughout Aotearoa's musical underground over the past ten years – encompassing hyper-frenetic punk, sludgey grunge, uncompromising noise, reflective balladry, subterranean electronics and much more.

Slow Decline - MUZAI at 10 is accompanied by a downloadable eighteen page "brochure" (read it here), presenting interviews reflecting on the kaleidoscopic history and "Defend DIY Music" ethos of the formerly Auckland-based label – featuring candid conversations with audio engineer Tyler Burke, Daniel Speight, Rohan Evans (Wine Cellar), Gemma Syme (Diana Rozz) and Tim Roberts (FADOHT). There's also an account of the imprint's infamous "feud" with the musical mavericks at Tauranga Music Sux, plus comprehensive cover artwork and vintage poster images. Explore the mammoth compilation below...

'Slow Decline - MUZAI at 10' is available for "name your price" download over on the Muzai Records Bandcamp page here.
