A fundraiser compilation has been released in support of the ongoing protests at Ihumātao, showcasing sixteen waiata gifted by artists from throughout Aotearoa including Rob Ruha, Che FuSeth Haapu, Fable NZ & Bobandii, JessB, Mara TK & Troy Kingi, Tiki Taane & Concord Dawn and many more. Named Toitū Te Whenua (He Kohikohinga Waiata Vol.1), the collection derives its title from "an ancient Māori proverb - 'whatungarongaro he tangata toitū te whenua' (people come and go but the land remains) it is a wero (challenge) for us all to heed the warning signs of Papatuānuku (Mother Nature)." You can listen up below and show your support by purchasing the digital album direct from First Nation Music - Aotearoa's Bandcamp page right here.

"Toitū Te Whenua is for our people on the frontline at Ihumātao, it is for everyone rising up with our First Nation brothers and sisters all around the World for the rights of the land, of man and for the cultural sanctity of our most sacred spaces! He tāonga tuku iho nō ngā Tīpuna (they are the gifts handed down from our ancestors).

The world is watching the land is calling we are listening and this is our response!

All profits from this album benefit the on-going stand for Ihūmatao.

Nāku te rourou, nāu te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.

With my knowledge and your knowledge the people will thrive."
