Mac DeMarco Directs Surreal Video For Iggy Pop's 'Sonali'
US punk icon Iggy Pop has recruited Mac DeMarco and his predilection for the surreal to create the “officially unofficial” visuals for 'Sonali'. The track is plucked from Iggy Pop's collaborative album Free that came out in September, which features talented guitarist Noveller and jazz trumpet player Leron Thomas. The video itself amplifies the bizarre aspects the song already has, placing it in a world of hammy lizard people, played by DeMarco's partner Kiera McNally and friend Tommy Midnight. Perhaps expanding on the crusty reptilian vibes in DeMarco's video for 'Nobody', these particular lizards pine for each other while Midnight's character is so overcome by road rage he is compelled to perform a sax solo in his bubblegum pink, fluffy convertible. Make your day a little weirder with the clip for 'Sonali', and see where you can catch Mac DeMarco live this summer...
