Melodownz Drops Single 'No Mercy' Feat. Denzel Curry

Avondale hip hop hero Melodownz steps onto the global stage with 'No Mercy', a collaborative single featuring none other than incandescent Florida rapper Denzel Curry. Recorded in LA with brooding production by Onehunga-bred beat wizard Smoke, the club-shaking cut is the Aotearoa artist's first release via legendary US imprint Def Jam (founded by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons) in conjunction with Sniffers Records. Both rappers pull zero punches in bringing the fury on 'No Mercy' – here's what Melodownz had to say about his titanic new track...

“To be honest when I wrote this song I was going through some dark shit in my life. It was just me venting about things I was going through and needed to get off my chest, hence the aggression of the song. I wanna communicate to people that its okay to feel shit and go through negative phases, So when I say “No Mercy”, to me thats being resilient, not giving up, not giving a fuck and just showing up and going hard no matter what the situation.

Working with Denzel was a trip, I’ve been a fan of him for a minute, so chopping it up in the studio was crazy. He brings a very unique and special energy to the room. It was an honour being able to witness that, and talk shit for a couple hours. He’s a real one. ‘No Mercy’ is the beginning of a new chapter for me in terms of music, art and expression.”
