Watch Billy Bragg Play 'There Is Power In A Union'
May 2020 sees the welcome return to Aotearoa of UK songsmith and activist Billy Bragg, for his first local appearances since playing an epic career-spanning three night residency at Auckland's Hollywood Avondale in late 2018. Bragg will be here reprising his multi-evening extravaganza at Wellington's San Fran, and has a special pair of South Island headline events lined up for Christchurch Town Hall and Dunedin's Union Hall. As a preview of Bragg's forthcoming shows, experience rousing footage of the always politically active artist performing 'There Is Power In A Union' (from 1986's Talking with the Taxman About Poetry) at 2017's Newport Folk Festival. It's a strikingly relevant anthem considering the current public transport shutdown in Tāmaki Makaurau, where operator NZ Bus has mass-suspended drivers (causing road mayhem) in response to union demands for better wages and work conditions...
