Hamerkop Reveal Second Single From Debut Album
Annabel Alpers' (fka Bachelorette) current sonic focus Hamerkop, with sound engineer and percussionist Adam Cooke, have just shared the second single from Remote, their debut release on a recent signing to Drag City Records. 'The Splendour That Was Rome' feels huge compared to poppy first single 'We Can Wing' (also featured below), with all-encompassing kick and toms making it at most a song to charge into battle to and at the very least something to motivate a steep hill climb. Just two tracks in, the Baltimore-based duo's first collection promises to bridge the gap between catchy synth-pop and abstract soundscapes, transforming Alpers' stockpile of world-wide field recordings into playlist-able earworms. With absolutely no facts to back this up, perhaps 'The Splendour That Was Rome' contains audio taken from the city itself...
Hamerkop's debut album 'Remote' is out Friday 7th February on Drag City Records.
