Ty Segall + Brian Chippendale Join Forces As Wasted Shirt
Hyperprolific US psych-rocker Ty Segall has announced the existence of a brand new collaborative project named Wasted Shirt, with drumming dynamo and ace cartoonist / printmaker Brian Chippendale – the percussion powerhouse behind Providence noiseniks Lightning Bolt. Featuring a classy stop-motion animated clip by Somer Stampley, Wasted Shirt's debut single 'Double the Dream' is the lead track from forthcoming long player Fungus II, blasting earholes with freakout-inducing ultra heavy locked-groove riffage and feral yelps conjuring a TGIF sonic information overload.
Brian Chippendale revealed the unsurprisingly sweaty origins of Wasted Shirt via Instagram, stating "In the summer of 2018 @tysegall & I made a duo band called Wasted Shirt and recorded a record in his air condition-free garage studio during a heat wave in LA. Nice guy @famousclass set it all up and the album, Fungus II, comes out on LP, CD and Digital Feb 28th. Pre-order is up now on their site for the limited edition clear with colored threads LP. Each copy of the LP comes with an eight page risograph lyric zine featuring art by me."
‘Fungus II' releases on Friday 28th February via Famous Class Records.
