Glass Heart String Choir Share Baroque-Pop Single 'Stars'
Seattle baroque-pop duo Glass Heart String Choir have unveiled their first new single since glowing 2018 collection Lights. 'Stars' is a heart-pounding, emotional breakdown of a song, and a shift in an epic direction since their past releases. Ian Williams and Katie Mosehauer give the listener less than a minute of thrumming guitar and violin before hitting you over the head with a bursting crescendo, swelling piano and orchestral percussion. Glass Heart String Choir explain the monumental piece as an exploration of "the feeling of mental time-travel that we all do with our pasts, of journeying back into the moments that we can’t let go of," and have created a visual counterpart set in Washington's Cascade Mountains, telling a story of passing time through time-lapse, sweeping drone footage, and infrared effects.
The two-piece embark on their Aotearoa tour this Sunday in Rangiora, the first of 15 island-spanning shows right through February. Along the way they'll be joined by local talents Mali Mali, French For Rabbits, Rose Lu, Timothy Blackman and Stacey Teague.
