The incomparable Tami Neilson has launched her latest LP CHICKABOOM! into the stratosphere, bursting with big hair, Delaney Davidson guitar, and cameos from her Toronto-based brother Jay Neilson. The record lives up to its name, with the first four tracks packing enough rhythm to keep your feet stomping and hands clapping the whole day through. In conversation with us late last year, Neilson explained she wanted her next album to take inspiration from "rockabilly, country flavour where it was percussion, guitar, harmonies and maybe a bass if you were lucky", and CHICKABOOM! is just that; massive emotion, minimal instrumentation.
