Ria Hall Shares New Album 'Manawa Wera'
Ria Hall's Manawa Wera is a collection bursting with heart, with the Tauranga artist's intention to uphold "the mana of Aotearoa reggae" unmistakable in every track. For the follow up to her APRA award-winning Rules Of Engagement, Hall assembled a Pōneke recording dream-team; Troy Kingi, Wiremu Barriball (Katchafire), Ara Adams-Tamatea (L.A.B.), Zane Graham (Sons of Zion), Warren Maxwell (Trinity Roots, Little Bushman), Rob Ruha, and Riki Gooch (Trinity Roots). Opener 'History' sets a crystal clear precedent for Manawa Wera's seven "songs of hope, faith and love", calling on Aotearoa to seek out the stories of our ancestors. Influence from '70s reggae greats Third World, Jimmy Cliff and Steel Pulse is woven through Hall's own unique sound, and vital messages in testing times, "no one owns the water, no ones own the ocean, no one owns the ocean, no one owns the sand". Take the time to engage and reflect with Manawa Wera...
Ria Hall and Fly My Pretties squeezed into the RNZ studios to perform 'Walk'...
