Listen To 'Donald Glover Presents 03.15.20'

A week after its buzz-fuelling early leak, Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino officially drops his new collection 03.15.20. Featuring Ariana Grande, 21 Savage and Khadja Bonet, the release is an odd but welcome mix of experimental synthy sounds and Top 40 pop, like the reworked version of 2018 single 'Feels Like Summer' and peppy track 'Little Foot Big Foot/35.31'. Ten of the twelve songs are named for how many minutes into the album they sit, and the cover art really lays into the minimalism as a simple Hex colour #f8f8f8 square, a shade also known as White Smoke, and tempting conspiratorial fate with how it could be said aloud. Details around which artist name the album is actually released under are fairly murky, with press info stating "There is a standard track-by-track version released under Childish Gambino, and a continuous play version released under Donald Glover Presents". Sounds to me like the latter is the cool one...
