Twenty one year old Aotearoa production maestro Montell2099 is indisputably on the rise, having recently wrapped up a run of North American shows supporting RL Grime and released remixes for the likes of Lorde and Charli XCX. In the midst of this week's barrage of Covid-19-related updates, the electronic artist has unleashed a dazzling visual accompaniment for his just-dropped debut FORCES EP. The sixteen minute clip was created by Human Person with animators Tim Grove, Jack Anderson, Alex Ness, David Ariew, Luke Rowell, Ian Valentine and editor Matt Cummer, with support from NZ On Air's New Music Project funding scheme. HD surfaces reflecting strobing flashes of neon green encourage viewers to buzz out to Montell2099's chrome-plated beats and subwoofer destroying grooves, recalling the futuristic likes of Rustie at his most muscular.
