King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Announce 'Chunky Shrapnel' Live Film + Album

C.C. / Friday 3rd April, 2020 12:02PM

Memories of seeing King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard tear it up at Laneway 2020 already seem like distant hazy daydreams in our current lockdown era. Thankfully, the ever-productive guitar-wrangling big band have been working overtime to bring you a taste of their live shenanigans in a whole new way, revealing today their debut feature length music documentary film Chunky Shrapnel will drop online in mid-April, accompanied by a live double album of the same name. Focussing on onstage action and described as "a musical road movie dipped in turpentine" directed by John Angus Stewart, Chunky Shrapnel was originally scheduled for cinematic release, as core King Giz member Stu Mackenzie explained...

“Chunky Shrapnel was made for the cinema but as both concerts and films are currently outlawed, it feels poetic to release a concert-film digitally right now. Get the loudest speakers you’ve got, turn ‘em up and watch Chunky on the biggest telly you can find. Get heaps of snacks and convert your lounge room into a cinema.”

'Chunky Shrapnel' the film will premiere online on Friday 17th April, the album will be released digitally on Friday 24th April via Flightless Records.
