Listen To WHIM's Debut Single 'Familiar'
Pōneke's Deanne Krieg (Congress of Animals, Dawn Diver, Ida Lune) today steps out from the comfy surrounds of her bedroom recording studio, with new solo project WHIM's debut single 'Familiar'. The contemplative and intricately constructed song brings together elements of minimal electronica, chamber pop and Krieg's stunning vocal work, to conjure a shimmering teaser for the artist's Mother Tongue EP, releasing in May via local champs Home Alone Music. WHIM's forthcoming five track collection is "an autobiographical work which critiques the traditional and historical representation of the 'woman' in popular music," drawing inspiration from American-Canadian artist Miriam Shapiro’s domestic process of Femmage to stake out her own space as a home-recording artist. Open your ears to 'Familiar' here and stay tuned for WHIM's new collection...
